MY APPROACH AND PHILOSOPHY
I work on the belief that every individual has the potential to change, and I will try to help you find ways to cope, help you to understand yourself better, and learn to manage difficult emotions.
Person-Centred Counselling forms the foundation of my therapeutic approach, and it centres on the fundamental belief in everyone’s in-built capacity for growth, healing, and self-awareness. Through genuine empathy, a non-judgemental attitude, and honesty, I aim to create a strong and trusting relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore your feelings, thoughts, and emotions openly without fear of judgment. My focus is on understanding and valuing your unique experiences, feelings, and perspectives so that you can feel that you have been really heard and understood.
Everyone’s journey is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing and personal growth, therefore your sessions with me are tailored to suit your specific needs. Whether you seek relief from anxiety, depression, past traumas, or simply have a desire to enhance self-awareness and self-acceptance.
Where appropriate and following discussion with you the client, I may offer to enhance the counselling session by incorporating another modality, for example – Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, or ‘Tapping’) into the work. EFT complements counselling as it allows you to safely address unresolved emotions, traumas, and limiting beliefs. (More about EFT in the ‘Services Offered’ section.)
The rainbow, a symbol of hope, reflects my whole philosophy of healing and wellbeing. For me, each of the seven colours represent an aspect of our inner being and this directs my approach to healing. To find out more, please click the link to my blog page.
